Hi

Happy Thursday!

Each week in this email, I try to give you a tip or idea for something you can do that might bring you some mental sunshine.

One of the ways I am learning and understanding more about mental sunshine is by reading.

Lots and lots of reading

And reading leads on to thinking (from a state of mental sunshine - peace, poise and harmony).

And thinking (new thought and metaphysics) is the main theme for most of the books I've been reading.

I find that one book leads me to another as I journey on a natural path of discovery. Diving deeper into this fascinating subject.

So this week, I want to share some more personal recommendations - books I have read that have brought some mental sunshine into my world.

The first is Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz

This book was written in 1960, so you might think it has no relevance to your life 60 years later - but it really does. Maxwell writes about our built-in success mechanism and the way we see ourselves. Either by way of our positive or negative self-image.

Especially useful to help me understand people and how they look at themselves.

The Book of Joy is a conversation between the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, about finding joy and happiness in the world.

I love the wicked sense of humour that the Dalai has and how he always sees the fun in things.

My favourite author (that I am reading, re-reading and reading again) is Neville Goddard

The Power of Awareness and Feeling is the Secret are 2 favourites in an anthology of writings.

Neville Goddard is described as “a modern mystic.”

Don’t let that put you off though; Neville's books are filled with powerful words to really get you thinking and applying the power of your own way of thinking.

These are also good books for shared discussions...

Lastly, I am diving back and forth into books by Thomas Troward, Genevieve Behrend and Florence Scovel Shinn.

The surprising thing is that these are older books - but so relevant today.

Like a spiders web, one book just leads me on to another with pearls of wisdom on every page...

I love to read books that can offer me some insight or ideas for improving my life in some way. You might call them “personal development” or even “self-help”- they’re just books that offer some help or guidance for this ever-changing and challenging path we’re all on.

If you’ve read a book that’s helped you in some way, I’d love to hear about it. You can drop me a line by replying to this email.

I'd especially love to hear from you if you are a fan of any of the books I have mentioned.

And, if you are new to my weekly doses of mental sunshine you may like to pop over and join our a photo a day for wellness group.
