Drops of morning dew caught at sunrise
One very technical way to know is to take your weight in kilos and multiply it by 0.033; this will give you the number of litres of water you need to drink each day.
I think most of us often struggle to drink as much water as our bodies need each day, so here are a couple of tips to help you:
- Download an app to your phone that will remind you to have a drink every hour
- Fill 2 large bottles at the beginning of the day, and aim to finish them by the end of the day. You could even put markers on the bottles to divide them up into hours to help you to stay on schedule
- Bring a bottle of water to bed with you at night, and take a big drink as soon as you wake up in the morning. Overnight your body has been working on eliminating waste products for several hours, and
you’ve probably not had a drink during that time - so you will be dehydrated.
- If you find it
hard to drink that much water on its own, maybe you could try flavouring it with a slice of lemon or some cucumber.
- Try swapping your fizzy drinks for a bottle of water
You might not have even noticed that your body is dehydrated.
But I bet you will notice a difference if you begin to pay attention and drink more water each day!
